Impulse to create
The AI Discovery Show officially kicked off with the first workshop on Monday 17.10.2022. Here’s what’s next and how the competition has gone so far.
The AI Discovery Show is designed for high school students from Pilsen and the surrounding area. Participants will form teams and will be tasked with coming up with a new innovation in the field of modern technologies (artificial intelligence, Internet of Things). They will gradually improve their idea and slowly turn it into a product. The emphasis is on practicality and usability. We organize a total of 6 workshops (all free of charge) to educate young inventors not only in technology, but also in business, collaboration and self-development. We regularly invite professionals from our partner companies and the professors from the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia to the workshops. Participants will learn on their way through the competition how to work with the latest technologies, how to turn innovations into an valuable product and how to effectively divide roles in a team and work together. Our ambitions don’t end there! We will try to turn the most successful projects into what our society really needs – start-ups run by young talents with a vision to change the world.
AI Discovery Partners:
SIT Port – a port for tech enthusiasts and businessmen
Aimtec – a Pilsen based company that develops software solutions for various companies in different industries – e.g. Automotive, Metal Manufacturing or Fashion
Digital architects – a company working in the field of data analysis, data visualization and mobile and web analytics Digital architects
Speech tech – an innovator in speech processing, analysis and generation and voice biometrics
Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia
For the first time in our history, we decided to organize the initial workshop in a hybrid way – i.e. in person at Nvias and online via Discord. The pilot project ended up being a great success. We managed to fine-tune the audio and video and the communication between the offline and online environment went smoothly both ways.
The theme of the workshop was an introduction to technology. As promised, we involved both professionals from practice and the intellectual elite from FAV ZČU in the workshop. Ms. Radana Polešáková from SIT Port made a presentation at the workshop and presented the challenges to the SIT Port students, which will serve as inspiration for our competitors. Additionally, Jan Švec from the Department of Cybernetics, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of West Bohemia, made a great contribution. He provided the participants with a detailed explanation of the field of artificial intelligence. They learned how artificial intelligence is used in today’s world, what are the pitfalls of its use, what things to be most careful about and, most importantly, how to work with artificial intelligence and what they can use it for in AI Discovery. The workshop was also attended by Petr Stejskal from Aimtec, who lectured the participants about the Internet of Things, its development and how professionals use it in practice. For “homework”, the participants received a lot of interesting materials on artificial intelligence from our mentor Filip Jasek, with which they will be able to try working with AI.
The students were tasked to form teams according to their skills and abilities and we look forward to seeing what they will prepare for us
